Some of the best ideas don't start with a business plan.

Scoopies Hervey Bay began, like a lot of family businesses do, around a kitchen table. We're a proudly neuro-spicy family. Like many families, we've learnt that the traditional "one size fits all" path isn't always the right one. Everyone's strengths look different, and finding an environment where those strengths can shine isn't always easy.

As our son got older, we started thinking about what his future might look like. We knew we wanted him to have more than just a job. We wanted him to have purpose, confidence, independence and somewhere he genuinely belonged.

But finding a workplace that truly understood different ways of thinking and learning felt incredibly difficult.

So we asked ourselves a simple question.

What if we created it ourselves?

In the end, that question became Scoopies.

Instead, we wanted to build more than a frozen yoghurt and dessert bar. We wanted to create a business where kindness comes first, where we accept people for who they are, and where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.

Above all, a place where our son, and hopefully many others, could develop real skills, build confidence and be part of something special.

Today, Scoopies is a family-owned business, and we still live by those values.

In fact, every swirl of frozen yoghurt, every topping and every smile across the counter represents something much bigger than dessert. It represents community, inclusion and the belief that different isn't something to hide.

It's something to celebrate.

Creating opportunities for our son inspired Scoopies, but it has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

Since then, it's become a place where families celebrate birthdays, friends catch up after work, first dates happen, kids proudly create their own dessert masterpieces, and our team can learn, grow and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Our mission has never simply been to sell frozen yoghurt.

Instead, our mission is to create moments of happiness while building a business that proves everyone deserves the chance to belong, contribute and thrive.
